Oh My Love

Staggering Sun

Simon’s songs lurch from happiness to sorrow. They're steeped in the romance of travelling, and are compelling and poetic. The thirteen track album, produced by Richard Durrant and recorded during the 2006 English heatwave will take you back to the summer months...

The full album release is 4th June 2007. One other track has been made available to buy as download from the LongMan shop (click here). You can also order the CD now to be delivered one week prior to release.

Reviews:

"Wonderfully melodic, hugely enjoyable stuff” Time Out

Simon Stewart is a brilliant new songwriter with a powerful voice and a line in inventive, heartfelt songs. This is classic night café music crying out to be heard in some smokey bar on the left bank of the Seine’” Des de Moor.

A Very English Village
Monday, January 08 2007 @ 10:23 AM GMT

Luke Holland's remarkable TV series "A very English village" is currently being shown on BBC2. The series, part of the award winning BBC Storyville strand, takes us beyond the postcard gloss of England's rural idyll in the ancient Sussex village of Ditchiling, Sussex.

The music for the series was composed and recorded by Richard Durrant. Many of the peices used can be found on Richard's "Music from the Colourdome" album. The album is available in CD or download formats by clicking here - or from UK record shops. A medley of Richard's music from the series can purchased by clicking here.

Durrant - guest soloist with RPO
Saturday, December 30 2006 @ 01:13 PM GMT

Highly regarded Sussex based concert guitarist Richard Durrant & award winning Film Director Phil Grabsky are to represent Brighton’s thriving arts and cultural scene by featuring alongside the RPO at The Music Park'07. Tickets are on sale now for Classical Proms Sunday at new South East four-day event The Music Park. Currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, the RPO will perform a summer proms line up conducted by Nick Davies to an outdoor arena capacity of 8,500.

Scheduled for Sunday 24th June 2007 the afternoon will start at 2pm with an exclusive screening of the recently premiered In Search of Mozart accompanied by a talk from Phil Grabsky. Richard Durrant will be appearing as special guest soloist with the Royal Phil to perform the middle movement of Rodrigo’s famous “Aranjuez” guitar concerto as well as the ever popular "Cavatina" by Stanley Myers (better known as The Deer Hunter theme).

Richard comments "I was born in Hollingbury and spent a lot of my childhood exploring the woods around Stanmer. At the age of 16 I still loved the place and chose to play my first ever public recital at the church in the park. This makes it all the more special to return to Stanmer all these years later as a soloist with the magnificent Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. For me Stanmer Park will always be one of the most magical of Brighton's open spaces and it will make a beautiful venue for "The Music Park".
